About Studymed
Studymed is an e-learning platform, that prepares aspiring candidates for the medical state entrance exam in Austria. The idea was born in 2012 when a group of medical students gathered in the legendary Charlie P’s and wondered why there is no affordable and at the same time qualitative way of preparing for the test.

How we made it happen
Challenge
Simulation of actual test
The goal was clear: come up with an e-learning portal that is both affordable and user friendly at the same time. But in order to get there, multiple challenges had to be solved first.
The biggest and most important one was making the practice environment for the users of the platform as realistic as possible so that it simulated the actual entrance test.
This meant that the different types of questions, which are usually answered on paper, had to be adapted to work on a screen as well.
Approach
How to prepare for the MedAT in the most realistic way?
Through many iterations of the feature set as well as the user interface, it became clearer and clearer what the users really needed. Therefore Studymed got enriched with nice helpful features like solution strategies in form of videos and textual solutions for every exercise within the portal.
This meant we had to develop a so-called simulation mode, which has the exact same structure and timing as the real test. This combined with very specific types of questions for the different knowledge areas meant many intensive but fun hours of development.
Result
State-of-the-art e-learning platform
What we finally came up with was a state-of-the-art e-learning platform using a modern tech stack that offers UX friendly online courses paired with the most realistic test simulations. As a result, more than 5000 applicants have prepared for the test with Studymed, taken part in one of the courses or completed a test simulation.
On top of that, due to applications becoming more and more popular, MedAT Companion, an E-Learning App was also released, which brought the content of the online portal into the user’s pockets. In 2018 the app generated the highest earnings in its category on Google Play Store.
